Everything you need to know
Aquasonic Para-Gone 25 Tablets help control most external parasites in goldfish, tropical and marine aquarium fish, including fish lice, gill flukes and anchor worms, making it a go‑to treatment when fish are rubbing or scratching on décor.
What Aquasonic Para-Gone 25 Tablets Are Used For
- Fish lice (Argulus spp)
- Skin and gill flukes (Ergasilus spp)
- Anchor worms (Lernaea spp)
Note: Para-Gone does not treat bacterial or viral infections – it is specifically for external parasites.
Directions & Important Use Notes
- Not to be used on fish intended for human consumption
- Fish rubbing and scratching on objects is a common sign of parasitic infestation
- Do not overdose
- Do not treat marine invertebrates (such as shellfish and anemones). Remove them from the aquarium before treatment and wait 5 days after the last dose before returning them
- Para-Gone may adversely affect:
- Plecostomus species
- Bristlenose catfish
- Metynnis / Silver Dollar type fish
Dosage and Administration (From Page Info, Reworded)
- Use 1 tablet per 40 litres of aquarium water
- Repeat the treatment after 7 days
- Continue repeating at 7‑day intervals until all signs of parasites are gone
- Follow the same treatment regime, but:
- Repeat treatments at 5‑day intervals at around 25°C
- In cooler water (around 20°C), treatments can be repeated at 12‑day intervals
- It is recommended to keep the aquarium temperature around 25°C
- Maintain the pH between 6 and 7 for best results
Multiply length x width x water level height (in cm) and divide by 1,000.
- Pre‑dissolve tablets in a disposable cup before adding to the aquarium
- A small amount of insoluble residue may remain after dissolving – this residue is harmless to fish
- Dispose of the used cup according to the disposal instructions on the label
Good Aquarium Practice
- Many fish diseases, including parasite outbreaks, are management related
- Maintain good water quality, regular water changes, and avoid overcrowding
- Consult your veterinarian or experienced aquarium dealer for accurate diagnosis and advice if you’re unsure which parasite you’re dealing with
