If you want bold colour that makes your aquascape pop, Rotala Bloodii ‘Blood Red’ Bunch is a go-to red stem plant for planted tanks. It’s typically used in the midground to background, planted in groups to create a dense red focal area. When conditions are right, it can develop rich red tones that stand out beautifully against green stems, carpets, and driftwood.
Rotala Bloodii responds extremely well to trimming. Frequent pruning encourages side shoots, which helps the plant become bushier and more compact over time. Like most high-colour Rotala varieties, it performs best with stable parameters, good lighting, and a consistent fertiliser routine. CO2 injection is strongly recommended if you’re aiming for compact growth and maximum colour.
