Rotala Colorata Bunch is a popular freshwater stem plant for aquascapes and planted community tanks, loved for its delicate leaf shape and the way it colours up under the right conditions. When grown in higher light with stable nutrients, Rotala Colorata can show beautiful orange, pink and red tones — ideal for adding depth and a “wow” focal area in the midground or background. It also grows quickly, so you can fill out a section of your tank fast and keep it looking dense with regular trims.
Rotala Colorata Bunch care & planting tips
Rotala Colorata is best planted in small groups for a fuller look. Trim the tops as it grows and replant the cuttings to thicken the bunch and encourage bushy growth.
- Placement: Midground to background
- Light: Medium to high (higher light = better colour)
- CO₂: Recommended for best growth and colour
- Fertiliser: Consistent liquid ferts + nutrient substrate helps a lot
- Maintenance: Regular trimming keeps it compact and encourages new shoots
