Product information
Everything you need to know
Apistogramma agassizii “Double Red” (3–3.5cm) is a stunning dwarf cichlid with intense red finnage and iridescent body colour—perfect for planted aquariums, soft water setups, and dedicated Apistogramma tanks.
- Tank Size: Minimum 60L for a pair or small group of dwarf cichlids
- Water Parameters: Soft, slightly acidic water, pH 5.5–7.0, temperature 24–28°C
- Aquarium Setup: Planted aquarium with driftwood, caves, leaf litter, and shaded areas to create territories
- Filtration: Gentle flow and very stable, clean water conditions
Apistogramma agassizii “Double Red” are omnivores and thrive on a varied, high-quality diet. Offer:
- Fine sinking pellets or granules for dwarf cichlids
- Frozen foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms
- Occasional live foods to enhance colour, condition, and breeding behaviour
These dwarf cichlids are generally peaceful but can be territorial, especially when pairing or breeding. They are best kept with:
- Small, calm schooling fish (tetras, rasboras, pencilfish)
- Peaceful bottom-dwellers that don’t compete for caves
- Current Size: 3–3.5cm juvenile Apistogramma
- Adult Size: Grows larger with stronger colour and extended fins
- Lifespan: Around 3–5 years with stable, high-quality water
- Difficulty: Best for intermediate aquarists comfortable with soft, stable water conditions
