Assorted Halfmoon Male Betta
Size and Lifespan
These males grow to about 5-7 cm in body length, with fins extending further. They typically live 2-4 years, and some exceed this range when provided with stable conditions and quality nutrition.
Ideal Tank Setup
Set up in heated tanks with low flow. Include silk or live plants, resting spots near the surface, and hiding areas. Keep the water clean through weekly partial changes.
To replicate its natural habitat:
- Maintain consistent tropical heat with a reliable heater
- Choose gentle filtration that avoids strong currents
- Plant heavily with broad-leaf varieties and floating plants
- Add smooth decorations and a betta hammock for easy resting
Compatible Tank Mates
Most keepers house these males alone due to their territorial nature. In very large, heavily planted tanks, some pair them carefully with select peaceful bottom-dwellers. Monitor closely to prevent stress.
Suitable tank mates include:
- One or two nerite snails
- Amano shrimp or cherry shrimp (in spacious setups)
- Otocinclus catfish (in groups, large tank only)
- Mystery snails
Diet and Feeding
Premium Assorted Halfmoon Betta Males do best on high-quality betta pellets as their main diet. Offer frozen or live treats such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, or daphnia several times weekly. Feed small amounts once or twice daily.
