Black Galaxy Tiger shrimp are an eye‑catching Caridina variety that blend two popular traits: the strong, banded look of tiger shrimp and the speckled “galaxy” pattern seen on high‑end Caridina lines. Under good lighting in a planted shrimp tank, Black Galaxy Tiger shrimp show off deep, dark markings, bright highlights and unique pattern variations from shrimp to shrimp.
As a higher‑grade Caridina shrimp, Black Galaxy Tiger shrimp do best in soft, slightly acidic water with very stable parameters. Recommended Water Parameters for Black Galaxy Tiger
As a general guide for Black Galaxy Tiger shrimp and similar Caridina lines:
- Temperature: around 20–24°C
- pH: typically 5.8–6.8 (soft, slightly acidic water)
- GH/KH: low to moderate, using suitable shrimp remineraliser
- Ammonia & Nitrite: 0 ppm
- Nitrate: kept low with regular water changes
Many keepers use active shrimp soil and remineralised RO water to give Black Galaxy Tiger shrimp the soft, stable conditions they prefer.
Tank Setup for Black Galaxy Tiger Shrimp
To create the ideal environment for Black Galaxy Tiger shrimp:
- Start with a mature, fully cycled shrimp aquarium – avoid adding them to new tanks.
