Black Rose Cherry Shrimp are a stunning Neocaridina variety with deep, inky black shells that look incredible against bright green plants and light substrates. Hardy, active and perfect for nano and planted aquariums, these Black Rose Cherry Shrimp are ideal for shrimp‑only tanks or peaceful communities with shrimp‑safe tank mates.

Colour, Size and Grading of Black Rose Cherry Shrimp
- Species: Neocaridina davidi – Black Rose Cherry Shrimp colour morph
- Colour: deep black to very dark brown, often with a glossy “rose” tone under strong light
- Size: usually around 2–3cm as adults
- Pattern: solid to semi‑solid coverage; individual variation is normal
Tank Requirements for Black Rose Cherry Shrimp
- Minimum tank size: from around 10–20L+ for a small colony
- Décor: live plants, mosses, driftwood and rock for grazing and hiding
- Filtration: sponge filters or pre‑filtered intakes to protect shrimplets
- Substrate: inert gravel or shrimp‑friendly substrates both work well

- Temperature: around 20–26°C
- pH: roughly 6.5–7.8
- Hardness: low to medium hardness for healthy shell development
- Ammonia & Nitrite: 0 ppm
- Nitrate: kept low with regular water changes
Feeding Black Rose Cherry Shrimp
- Natural food: biofilm, algae and detritus on plants, wood and hardscape
- Prepared foods:
- Shrimp‑specific pellets and wafers
- High‑quality algae wafers
- Occasional blanched vegetables (e.g. zucchini, spinach) in small amounts
Behaviour, Tank Mates and Breeding
- Behaviour: constantly grazing, exploring and displaying natural group behaviour
- Best kept: as a colony of multiple Black Rose Cherry Shrimp rather than just a few individuals
- Tank mates: ideal with other Neocaridina, Caridina (if parameters match), snails and small, shrimp‑safe fish
