Recommended Tank Setup for Blue Bolt Shrimp
- Tank size: From 20–30L+ for a starter colony
- Substrate: Active shrimp substrate that buffers pH slightly acidic
- Décor: Driftwood, rocks and plenty of live plants (mosses, ferns, stem plants)
- Filtration: Gentle sponge or pre‑filtered intake to protect shrimplets
- Lighting: Moderate light to support plant and biofilm growth
Water Parameters (Guide Only)
- Temperature: around 20–24°C
- pH: typically 5.5–6.8 (slightly acidic)
- GH/KH: low to soft, depending on your chosen Caridina parameters
- Ammonia & Nitrite: 0 ppm at all times
- Nitrate: kept low with regular water changes and good plant growth
Feeding Blue Bolt Shrimp
- Quality shrimp‑specific foods (sticks, wafers, granules)
- Occasional blanched vegetables (e.g. zucchini, spinach)
- Specialized mineral and biofilm foods for Caridina shrimp
Tank Mates and Compatibility
- Ideal with: other compatible Caridina shrimp varieties (with matching parameters) and peaceful snails
- Use caution with: small nano fish – many will pick off shrimplets
- Avoid: larger or predatory fish that may eat adult shrimp
